Today, after driving from coast to coast exploring 30 of the best small towns in America in three weeks, our Best of the Road Rally teams eagerly await the announcement of the Grand Prize winner. Together they’ve driven over 25,000 miles, captured thousands of photos, written 200 blog posts, filmed 50 videos, and tweeted dozens of times a day. They’ve fallen in love with America and taken you along on the journey from New York to Los Angeles, where they reunited yesterday.
Captain and Clark, the Fun Finders, Gone With the Wynn’s, the McNavigators, and TravelingJules and TravelingJoan unloaded their video equipment, cameras, luggage, keys to cities, proclamations, and assorted souvenirs late Wednesday night for one last round of edits, uploads, and recaps before the judging began. On Thursday they presented their travel journals one by one sharing what unforgettable experiences they had in each town and in between.
The teams redefined the categories after experiencing each distinct town’s manifestations. They raved about the hospitality, reminisced about relationships formed along the way, and struggled to choose a winner. The towns are proudly represented in the teams’ blogs, videos, and photos, and the winner in each category will be announced at DMAI on July 21.
The team winner, an equally difficult decision, will be announced this evening at 4 pm PST at the Americana at Brand in Glendale, CA. Be sure to follow here on the blog, and on Twitter of course, to see who’s going home with $10,000 and the SAAB 9-4X. To see just what America’s best small towns have to offer catch up on the blog and keep following to find out which towns will win next week.
To all of our Best of the Road Rally teams, congratulations on the trip of a lifetime, and thank you for sharing it with us.
