EXPLORE AMERICA: Nehalem Bay State Park

This state park comprises three miles of beachfront and four miles of sandy beach located on a sand bar between a bay and the Pacific Ocean. The water is too cold for swimming, but visitors can enjoy hiking, fishing, horseback riding, boating, and crabbing. The campground is located near sand dunes, and an airstrip is located nearby. You can choose from equestrian or primitive camping; water and electrical hookups, showers, and rest room facilities are available. A meeting hall may be reserved for day-use group activities. Reservations are recommended for this popular area. 267 campsites, 18 yurts, horse camp (17 sites with corrals), a hiker/biker camp, and a fly-in camp adjacent to the airstrip. Leashed pets are permitted in park and campground, but not on beach area. Oregon has a central reservation phone number for all state campgrounds: 800-452-5687. There is a fee for each reservation made.
