EXPLORE AMERICA: Hungry Mother State Park

Lake at Hungry Mother State Park in Virginia

This park deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia features a 108-acre lake with a diving platform and a sandy beach for swimming. Lifeguards are on duty daily between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Rowboats and paddle boats are welcome on the lake, and anglers can try their luck there or along Hungry Mother Creek, which feeds the lake. Accommodations include a campground, cabins, and a food concession open between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Leashed pets are permitted. Virginia charges a pet fee over and above the campsite fee at all state campgrounds. Please call for more information. All campsites must be reserved.
