The same sun that helps grow perfect peaches, cherries, and zucchinis also powers the twice-weekly farmers market along Detroit Street in Ann Arbor, Mich. Over 150 solar collectors were installed on the market’s roof last year, and energy stored is used by both the vendors as well as the office staff. It’s no surprise that Ann Arbor was named a Solar America City.

This Saturday, the town will celebrate 90 years of the market during regular hours, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For those who can’t stop by for the gelato and cake, you can follow the fun on Twitter. — Hilary Solan
