The National Park Service will offer free admission to all of its 391 parks over three weekends this summer: June 20-21, July 18-19, and August 15-16. Of those, 147 parks usually charge admission ranging from $3 to $25. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar hopes the promotion will boost tourism in and around the parks. Many service providers, including tour operators, hotels, restaurants, gift shops, and other vendors, will offer additional discounts and special promotions on those dates.

Most Americans live less than a day’s drive from a national park. Search Rand McNally.com for your weekend National Park getaway, and take advantage of the Park Service’s Family Fun page for a rundown of events and activities.— Kelsey Rexroat
