Salt Lake City, Utah—For civics geeks like me, few things are as cool as getting to see democracy in action. Now, from afar, people are able to virtually tour the Utah State Capitol and grounds. The Capitol, which was completed in 1916, is now available to anyone with Internet access. Views of the Senate Chambers, Supreme Court, State Reception Room, House Chambers, and the Rotunda are featured on the Capitol’s Virtual Tour website.
And for those visiting in person, The Utah State Capitol Preservation Board and its Visitor Services Center have created a tour through text messaging. By texting key words to a designated number, messages will be sent to the phone detailing the significance and history of the certain elements of the Capitol.— Hilary Solan
